Here's your plug for the coolest local shops to elevate your autumn wardrobe.


GOLD COAST
 

Alice & Olive (Gold Coast)
The Vibe: High-octane glitz meets maximalist party armor, factory-tuned for turning heads under the crisp autumn skyline
Whether you're hunting down statement leather pieces or a show-stopping outfit for late-night cocktails in the Gold Coast, this spot delivers maximum drama and zero-apology glam to keep your seasonal rotation glowing. 10 minute walk.

Tip: Take a lunch detour at The Bellevue at the corner of Rush and Bellevue. Take a seat next to the wrap around windows or cozy up in a sweater and refuel outdoors with high-end comfort food in the crisp autumn sunlight.

Golden Goose  (Gold Coast)
The Vibe: Italian craftsmanship meets distressed luxury streetwear.
Nestled right in the heart of the Gold Coast's premier shopping district, Golden Goose Chicago brings high-impact personality to Oak Street. While famous for their hand-distressed Italian sneakers, their fall apparel—think distressed leather jackets, cozy graphic knits, and tailored fits. 
Located right off Michigan Avenue on tree-lined Oak Street. 10 minute walk.

Tip: Break up your Oak Street haul with a well-deserved stop at Le Colonial. It's a 1920's Saigon-inspired oasis, think high-flavor French-Vietnamese classics. it's one of our favorites. Reservations recommended. 10 minute walk.

rag & bone   (Gold Coast)
The Vibe: Downtown New York edge meets classic British tailoring.
If your autumn style centers around dark denim, tailored blazers, and supple leather boots, rag & bone is a must visit. Located on Delaware Place, it's famous for impeccably fitting denim, structured fall coats and versatile leather boots. While you're there, dig the interior industrial vibe!
12 minute walk up Wabash.

Tip: Book a lunch stop at 3 Arts Club Café at Restoration Hardware for delicious eats in the ultimate backdrop for your fall fit pics before you hit the shops again. It's a bit spendy, but it delivers. And if you end up spending the entire afternoon there - well, we won't judge! Reservations required.                                                          

Space 519  (Gold Coast)                                                                                                                                                                                                        The Vibe: Bright, high-concept store where chic meets cozy autumn indulgence—a total sensory playground for elevated fall layering.Step inside SPACE 519 to experience an impeccably curated autumn oasis where fashion, home, and beauty collapse into one stunning layout. Tucked inside this Gold Coast haven, you can hunt down high-end fall fits—think buttery-soft oversized knits, tailored outerwear, and unique statement accessories.

Tip: Tavern on Rush is classic Gold Coast swagger. Re-engineered for a high-wattage modern revival and dripping in vintage red accents and prime street-level local energy. Their wrap-around sidewalk is the place to lunch. Try their salads, or crabcake. 

RIVER NORTH/MAG MILE

Ikram:  (River North)

The Vibe: Crimson-clad architectural edge meets high-fashion artistry, custom-built for serious aesthetic visionaries.

Stepping into Ikram on Huron Street feels less like standard retail and more like entering an exclusive gallery curated for the boldest fall looks. Housed inside its iconic, vivid red facade, this is where you go to discover rare avant-garde outerwear, tactile designer knits, and sculptural statement pieces you won't find anywhere else. Pricey, but it's always fun to aspire.

Tip: This new arrival on the Chicago Riverwalk has everybody buzzing. Naia draws inspiration from Greece, Southern France, Italy, Spain. and is helmed by a top rated chef. Take in the flavors and some of the best views of Chicago.

Aritzia (Mag Mile)

The Vibe: Pure dopamine-inducing style overload where you actually want to spend two hours in the fitting room.   

The Dream layout at this Mag Mile Flagship location includes endless racks of ridiculously soft knits, tailored trousers that fit like a glove, and every color of the Super Puff jacket you could ever want to test against the fall breeze. With huge mirrors, flattering lighting, and plenty of space to breathe, it's the ultimate spot to take a break from the street-level rush, try on your entire dream cold-weather wardrobe, and leave feeling completely pulled together.  5 minute walk.

Tip: Perched on a second floor, Evie offers sweeping elevated views directly overlooking the energy of iconic Michigan Avenue. Locally owned . Evie is sleek dining space meets curated contemporary gallery. And the menu? Imagine steakhouse specialties with global influence.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Uniqlo  (Mag Mile)
The Vibe: High-tech Japanese layering essentials & clean streetwear foundations.
If your fall fit checks need a crisp, budget-friendly baseline, Uniqlo is the move. Famous for its ultra-light HEATTECH thermals, slick puffer vests, and oversized minimalist silhouettes, it's built for surviving autumn without adding unnecessary bulk. Did we mention, it's just steps from ACME? While you're there, swing over to Garretts for the Garretts Mix. Guests love bringing the iconic cheese and carmel combo to their rooms for late night munches! 

Tip: Check out James Beard award winner The Purple Pig for lunch. It'll bump your creds! Go for the shared small plates or make the meal all your own. Reservations recommended

FULTON MARKET/WEST TOWN/WICKER PARK


SVRN    (Fulton Market)
The Vibe: High-fashion luxury meets brutalist architecture. 
Stepping into SVRN feels like walking into an art installation that happens to sell ultra-exclusive streetwear and high-concept designer fits. Perfect for those looking for structured fall coats, high-end knitwear, and rare footwear drops you won't spot anywhere else. Did we mention the 60% off summer sales happening NOW? Worth it. 

Tip: If you're winding down your shopping in late afternoon, head over to Cabra, (opens at 4p). It's a Peruvian-inspired sharable plates rooftop restaurant with some of the best city views around. The crowd is young, hip and energetic - just like you!

Notre (Fulton Market)
The Vibe: Cozy, wood-paneled autumn retreat outfitted for the urban pioneer. 
Bathed in amber light and the warm scent of cedar and roasted coffee, this brick-walled supply house houses an exceptional cache of thick knits and heritage layers built for frosty autumn evenings around the fire pit. Think Thermal layering devices and fall cabin accents. You can even kick back on their multi-tiered wooden bleachers and enjoy a warm cider.

Tip: Au Cheval is the ultimate high-spec, walk-in-only dining depot famous for its legendary cheeseburgers layered with thick-cut bacon and a fried egg, this elevated upscale-diner serves up heavy-duty culinary fuel. Check it!  

Kokorokoko  (Wicker Park)
The Vibe: Pure 80s & 90s pop-culture time warp.
This is a Wicker Park haven for retro lovers. Expect racks packed with 90s windbreakers, throw-back graphic tees, vintage track jackets, and quirky accessories. It's colorful, loud, nostalgic, and impossible to leave empty-handed. Perfect for fall in Chicago. And let's face it, that name should be a drinking game!

Tip: Since you're going retro, pop into Wicker Park's iconic Doves luncheonette for classic counter service and high grade comfort food. While you're at it, drop the needle on warm vintage soul records while you're there.

Mildblend Supply Co. (Wicker Park)
The Vibe: Heavy-duty fall layering & serious denim credentials.
If your autumn aesthetic involves rugged leather boots, raw selvage denim, and heavy flannels that last forever, this is your holy grail. Walk in, pick out a pair of jeans from their massive wall, and they'll custom-hem them for you on the spot while you wait. In Wicker Park.

Tip: Pop into Café Instanbul for cozy mediterranean warmth filled with rich spice aromas, Turkish coffee, and wood-fired comfort. It's off-the-radar for tourists, locked-in for locals.
