VALENTINES DAY IN CHICAGO

THINGS TO DO IN CHICAGO FOR VALENTINES DAY

Franky, we think we should celebrate our significant other's every day . . . but since there's a special day already carved out on the calendar, and let's face it, where the brunt of expectations lie, we'll play along! There's a load of fun and creative things to do in Chicago for your Valentine's Day, but we're going to skip the expected restaurant and spa recommendations and give you some Valentine's ideas and intel that will make your Valentine think twice about you (but in a GOOD way). And btw, none of these ideas will break the bank! Here's ACME's TOP TEN ideas for spreading the love on Valentine's Day!

1) Skip the Michelin star scene and make your Valentine's day more deliciously interactive with a cooking class at the Chopping Block. If you've never done it, it's crazy fun, and what better way to turn up the heat than cooking for each other! This year's theme - - - Midnight in Paris. Dreamy . . .

2). Throw it back with a midnight feature of True Romance at the Music Box Theatre. A Chicago classic, the Music Box is a whimsically romantic spot to cozy up and lean in to your movie date nights of the past. Their themed cocktail for the night? "True Romance", natch!

3). Hoping to have the time of your life?! How about some Dirty Dancing Lessons? Let's repeat  (and italicize). . . Dirty Dancing Lessons . . . blushing yet? Check out the Duet Dance Studio for some Valentine's Day lessons - After all, nobody puts baby in a corner

4)   Skies, the limit on top of the Hancock at 360 Chicago. Make it a day date before you go to dinner, and marvel at the stunning views of our beautiful city, or pop by after dark for a few pre or post dinner cocktails among the stars.

5)  Put your back into it with a skating date at Maggie Daley Park. No axels, salchows or flippy flips required to impress your date - a sweetly held hand as you glide on the ice with the dramatic Chicago skyline as your backdrop will most likely do the trick.

6) Stargazing can be a very romantic way to spend an evening (when you're not gazing into each other's eyes of course). Pop by the Adler Planetarium after dinner to enjoy the moonlight and your Valentine. Maybe you'll see your future in the stars!

7 Light it up with a candlelight concert. These beautifully orchestrated events of candlelight and music are the perfect combination to set the tone for romance. (Seriously, the entire venue is illuminated with candlelight!) There are plenty of genres and intimate venues to choose from - Find your Valentine's favorite -  As the Z's say, it'll be lit!

8) Valentine's Day means Fireworks! Get yourself a comfy blanket, some had warmers and a spot on the lakefront for Navy Pier's Valentine's Day Fireworks - or get yourself a few seats on the Centennial Wheel - Fireworks are known to inspire a few oohs and ahhs!

9) Experts say that romance can spring from shared laughter. Maybe it's all the raging endorphins that happen with a really hard laugh from your gut! If you've got a funny valentine, they might enjoy a night with Taylor Tomlinson at the Chicago Theatre - Well, and you of course.

10) Who didn't see this one coming? . . .  Get yourself a room right here at ACME Hotel and order in from the Dash! Truly! What could be more intimate than just hangin' with your Boo and enjoying a carpet picnic pour deux. You might even try out a few of your new dirty dancing moves. No judegement.  Plus, you can pop downstairs to The Berkshire Room for a Valentine's Day toast. You two deserve a night - the whole night.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
